Conference background
The Provoking Curriculum Studies Conference provides a key occasion for complicated conversation regarding the content, context, and process of education, the organizational and intellectual center of which is the curriculum.
The Provoking Curriculum Studies Conference encourages experimental presentations that enable understanding of uniquely Canadian curricular issues. As curriculum theorists committed to educating the public in this current era of social, technological, environmental and curricular globalization, how might we then locate such understanding within the field of Canadian Curriculum Studies? Focusing, on the significance of curriculum history to understanding Canadian curriculum in the present and imagining curriculum in the future, our conference is An Uncommon Countenance: Provoking Historical, Present, and Future Perspectives within Canadian Curriculum Studies .

۷٫ EUROPEAN EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATION , European Curriculum Network(ECUNET) Conference
The European Conference on Educational Research 2009 will take place in Vienna, Austria.
Conference Theme – Theory and Evidence in European Educational Research
Private and public enterprises, national and international agencies provide a wealth of data and information about education systems and processes unknown to previous generations. Concepts like “evidence-based policy making”, “quality assurance”, “data-driven decision making”, and “evidence-based teaching” have played an important part in this development. The rapid spread of national and international testing systems is another sign of the ongoing transformation of the field.
At the same time there are numerous reports from different European countries that resources for independent university-based educational research have been declining, and that the opportunities for unsolicited, critical research have worsened. The decline appears to have particularly affected those areas long considered to be the corner-stones of the discipline — educational philosophy, history, general didactics, and other foundational subjects.
