Graduate Student and Early Career Award!!!
Graduate Student Award
This award recognizes the scholarship of one student whose work expands upon the themes of this year’s conference and those of the Critical Issues in Curriculum and Cultural Studies SIG.
Submissions must include a single-authored, published or unpublished paper by a graduate student member of the SIG and a letter of nomination. Papers may not exceed more than 20 pages (excluding references, tables, appendices). Names and university affiliation should appear on the cover sheet only for blind review. Papers must be in APA or Chicago citation style.
The awards committee will select work with the most promise for contributing to the critical examination of curriculum and curriculum scholarship. The award recipient will be recognized at the annual conference business meeting in Philadelphia, PA.
Early Career Award
This award is given to one early career scholar who best demonstrates a consistent commitment to the critical study of curriculum and cultural studies scholarship. Applicants must have completed doctoral work no more than six years prior to submission. Scholars may nominate themselves or another scholar.
To be considered for the award, submit a curriculum vitae and two published articles, book chapters, or performance pieces. Applicant must be a member of the SIG. The award recipient will be recognized at the annual conference in Philadelphia, PA.

The Awards Committee for this year is chaired by Debbie Sonu. All application materials must be submitted via email with subject line “SIG Award Application: (name)” to debbie.sonu@gmail.com by February 1, 2014.

Purpose: To support and promote transdisciplinary research of education as experience. The SIG de-stabilizes commonly held boundaries of educational research beyond contemporary curriculum discourses. Members pursue curriculum inquiry using critical perspectives, and performative, auto-ethnographic and conceptual approaches to ask sociocultural, political, and theoretical questions.
